Our Story
Upaskar — from the Sanskrit word meaning "to furnish" or "to equip" — was founded in Kamloops, BC, with one conviction: beautiful furniture should not cost the planet. Bamboo grows to full maturity in three to five years. The oak it replaces takes sixty.
We work with certified bamboo craftspeople in British Columbia and partner workshops in Southeast Asia to build furniture that meets Canadian residential standards for durability and safety. Every piece is inspected before it leaves our Kamloops facility.
We ship across Canada with white-glove delivery options in BC. Custom sizes and finishes are available on request — contact us with your dimensions and we will build to specification.

Bamboo reaches harvestable maturity in 3 to 5 years. The oak it replaces takes 60 to 80 years. No deforestation, no replanting delays — bamboo is the only renewable structural material on earth.

Bamboo contains a natural silica layer that resists moisture, insects, and fungal growth without chemical treatment. Our pieces use only natural oil finishes — no VOC lacquers or synthetic sealants.

Enquiries submitted through this website are not binding purchase orders. All orders are confirmed in writing by email. Prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD) and include applicable GST and PST where required. Prices are subject to change without notice.
Custom-sized or custom-finished pieces require a deposit of 50% at the time of order confirmation. Custom orders cannot be cancelled or refunded once production has commenced.
All Upaskar furniture is handcrafted from natural bamboo. Minor variations in grain, colour, and dimensions from photographs or written specifications are inherent to natural materials and do not constitute defects.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the applicable federal laws of Canada. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia.

We want you to be completely satisfied with your Upaskar furniture. If you are not satisfied, we will work with you to find a fair resolution in accordance with BC consumer protection law.
Email Contact@upaskar.shop with your order reference, reason for return, and photographs where relevant. We will respond within 2 business days with instructions.
Approved refunds are processed within 10 business days of receiving the returned item in satisfactory condition, to your original payment method.
If your furniture arrives damaged in transit, contact us within 48 hours with photographs of the damage and packaging. We will arrange repair, replacement, or full refund at no cost.

We ship to all Canadian provinces and territories from our Kamloops, BC facility. Large furniture items are shipped via specialist freight carriers with white-glove delivery available in BC.
In-stock items are processed within 3 to 5 business days. Custom or made-to-order pieces have a lead time of 4 to 8 weeks from order confirmation. You will receive tracking information by email once your order has been dispatched.
Most Upaskar pieces ship flat-packed with all hardware and illustrated assembly instructions included. White-glove delivery in BC includes in-home assembly. For all other provinces, assembly service can be arranged on request.
